6) Energy

- Energy freedom and independence is something that all Americans want, but many disagree on how to get there.
- With environmental issues like climate change and pollution to take into account, it is quite clear that this issue is another complex one.
- However, it is amazing how a deeply intellectual understanding of American principles can bring Ron Paul to a clear and sensible grasp on the issue.
- When it comes to innovative new ideas, Paul knows that the free markets is what will bring the brightest new energy alternatives.
-But remember, the U.S. has not had truly "free markets" for at least a century, so please don't associate our current economic hardships with free markets (more info: Economics Page).
- Here's an audio clip with Ron Paul describing how current corruptions in the government LIMIT innovation and advancements with energy independence:

More on Ron Paul's Energy Stance:

As President, Ron Paul will lead the fight to:

 * Remove restrictions on drilling, so companies can tap into the vast amount
of oil we have here at home.

* Repeal the federal tax on gasoline.  Eliminating the federal gas tax would
result in an 18 cents savings per gallon for American consumers.

* Lift government roadblocks to the use of coal and nuclear power.

* Eliminate the ineffective EPA.  Polluters should answer directly to
property owners in court for the damages they create – not to Washington.

* Make tax credits available for the purchase and production of alternative
fuel technologies.

It’s time for a President that recognizes the free market’s power and
innovative spirit by unleashing its full potential to produce affordable,
environmentally sound, and reliable energy.
